traffic woes

I know, not so exciting. On my road trips in years past, I never had to worry too much about traffic. Just avoid Atlanta's rush hour, and we were set. Nowadays, DC's rush hour impacts travel plans too much. Tie ups can occur for insignificant reasons.

Recently, I've begun compiling a list of things I want to see at the beginning of a traffic tie up to justify my extra time in the car.

1) Any accident between a clown car and a busload of nuns. Clowns acting silly and nuns scratching their heads as traffic creeps by single file.

2) A 47 car pileup in which no one gets hurt. All drivers and passengers breathing a collective sigh of relief as their payloads of rubber chickens and bubble gum are strewn across the blacktop.

3) A minor fender bender(as is more often the case). Both drivers, mad as hell, get out of their cars and conveniently have either Hulk fist boxing gloves or sumo suits, and go at it on the shoulder. Now that's cause for rubbernecking!

As you sit in traffic this week, think of something comical and laugh instead of stew. In the comments, what would ease your frustration in a typical Beltway traffic tie up?

all things considered

strike one, slept in until seven this morning. oops. i don't like hurrying in the morning, even less so when someone else is depending on me. i had to pick up casey at 7:20. mcdonald's southern style chicken biscuit and a sweet tea is not the way i usually choose to start my day.

i made my lunch last night. strike two, it's still in my fridge. i realized the problem as soon as we pulled into the parking lot at school. fortunately, i was able to order out for lunch on the playground. it showed up with five minutes to spare for my lunch period. fortunately times two, the guidance counselor scheduled an introductory lesson after lunch for me today so i was able to quietly eat my sub & salad while she taught.

all things considered, strike three could've come anywhere. nothing major anyhow. here i sit at home, bored and waiting for that third one to come in, high and tight.

sure hope i don't whiff on it!

argh!

a few weeks ago, i started getting spammed. my relatively unknown email address found its way out into a spambot computer. my email address was always relatively safe because those spambot computers were unable to generate it because i threw in an extra initial.

starting in november or so, someone in the district with whom i share a last name started setting up utilities, using my email address as contact info. i politely informed each of those companies that mine was not in fact sue's email address and to please contact her another way. oddly, you'd think those companies would know that because i had accounts of my own set up with them. unfortunately, with the same last name, perhaps they thought we were kin or married or something else somewhat logical. in any event, i thought this problem was solved. i deleted all of those emails when they finally ceased. now with a furious pace, i'm getting 20-30 spams a day because she's setting up homebased businesses, entering survey sites to win free stuff, sell viagra, god knows what else!

if only i still had those emails with her address so i could snail mail bomb her back. is that vindictive? eye for an eye, the bible sayeth...
